Thank you for visiting the website. I'm Amina and I would like to welcome you to Breathe. 

I first began practising Pilates ten years ago, initially to complement  running and cardio classes. It wasn't long however, that I began to realise that it was the one Pilates class a week that I really looked forward to most.

I enjoyed the feeling of working the entire body- benefitting from a full workout, but, for the first time, in a calm, relaxed atmosphere and more importantly was beginning to notice the benefits of this wonderfully balanced form of exercise extending in to my everyday life. I was becoming aware of my posture and found I was adjusting the way I sat - at dinner, at the computer, when driving. I was self correcting poor postural habits, becoming more toned, moving better and looking and feeling better for it.


 My belief in this incredible system of exercise, led me to begin my journey of training as a Pilates Matwork teacher. I trained under the guidance of the amazing Allison Swan at Pilates Matwork Teacher Training in London. Allison was one of the founder members of The Pilates Foundation.


I am a Level 3 qualified Pilates Matwork Instructor, with Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Anatomy and Physiology and am comprehensively trained to teach clients with more specific needs such as those with neurological conditions or clients who may have been affected by breast cancer. I am also an approved and fully qualified teacher of Pilates for Pre and Post Natal clients and a member of IPTA.

The more I learn about the incredible body within which we live, the more I want to learn, so I regularly attend workshops and belong to the Pilates Instructors Network group where we share knowledge, experience and skill in this fascinating field.

Why - Breathe?

Breath was one of the main principles advocated by Joseph Pilates. 

Effective breath energises every cell in the body, promoting strength and vitality as well as encouraging relaxation/calm. To me, breath is the thread that links all of the Pilates Principles together- that of alignment, core strength, focus, mobility and precision. In the modern world in which we live, often sitting in front of computers, looking down at mobile phones or sitting in traffic, many of us develop poor postural habits and over time, without us even being aware, our breath becomes compromised.

Through the practise of Pilates, awareness of posture and focus on mind/body connection, the body is able to use the breath as designed - to energise and re-fuel the body, helping to promote mobility, strength and stamina during exercise and into our everyday life.

Breathe is situated in a private studio in Bletchingley, overlooking the South Downs. Surrounded by trees, it is a perfect 'retreat' - an hour to yourself.
